@The Faculty of Economics provides the economic
education to approach the society asking various
talents, with the concepts of internationalization,
informalization, modernization, synthesization and
the emphasis in local communities, environments
and human beings, in a spirit of establishment of
Matsuyama University. The Faculty has been highly
evaluated and expected by the local community
as it has turned out many competent human
resources. It is pushing forward with the aim of the
further development along with the succession of
the tradition.
@The feature of the Faculty is the three courses (The Synthetic Economic
Policy Course, International Economic Course, The Community,
Environments and Human Science Course) with a variety of unique subjects designed in order to encourage talents.
For example, the two study abroad programs,e East
Asian Economyfin Shanghai, China and eKorean
Peninsula Economyfin Seoul, Korea are conducted
every year. It also yearly offers the industry-government-
academia seminars,e Venture Business
and Market Economyf,eInternational Sightseeingf
and eCultural Economicsfby visiting lecturers. In
2006, eHometown Communion Seminarf will be
held with the cooperation of Matsuyama Chamber
of Commerce and Industry. In 2005, the Faculty
conducted eLocal Industrial and Cultural on-the-spot Trainingf and
ePilgrimage Visit to 88 Temples in Shikokuf as an experience-learning
program. |

@The merchandise and services supporting our
affluent lives are offered by enterprises. Business
Administration is a field to stay the system and
the action principals of such enterprises being at
the core of the society. It is said that enterprise
management exists to manage and apply business
resources such as manpower, goods, money
and information efficiently. The Faculty provides
students with various study programs to thoroughly
master the specialized knowledge and technology
required to manage business resources as well
as to foster better entrepreneurs and excellent leaders. There are six
courses in the faculty: Business Management, Information, Accounting, Distribution, Management Education and
International Business.
@Business Administration is a practical study closely
connected with the development of industrial
society. The Faculty also provides students with
the practical learning opportunities, computer
education so that all students can master the
operation of Personal Computer, and an internship
system in which students acquire credits through
on-the-job training at companies. It is the great
feature of the Faculty to foster capable people with
education including both theory and practice. |

@The English Department aims at cultivating a selfsufficient
person with an international outlook who
can take an active role in the front line of the
international society. The basic goal is to make
students acquire English skills as a communication
tool. Students are also expected to have global
view point concerning human beings, languages
and cultures through the studies of the histories
and contemporary international issues in Englishspeaking
countries, intercultural communication,
English literature, linguistics and education.
@The Department is characterized by a curriculum focused on using
English practically. English for International Communication (EIC) is a
compulsory subject for first year students to third year students. Students
are placed into five different classes according to their English level
and take English native speakersf lessons. English composition is a
compulsory subject on essay writing for second year students. There are five classes that native speakers are in charge of
as well. A computer instructional network program
is required for first year to third year students. As a
part of the program, students are obliged to take
the Test of English for International Communication
(TOEIC) three times a year. Some who entered
the university after 2005 when the new curriculum
was introduced, marked over 700 points in the
TOEIC. The Department has also a wide variety
of the subjects to develop studentsfEnglish
proficiency for strategy to certificate examination
and Presentation in English. Besides the regular courses in a class room,
the Department carries out a freshman camp seminar, which all first
year students attend under the slogan, eLetfs speak English and make
friends.f and English training camp for those who are interested. Both
camps are held for one night and two days. |

@The educational goal of the Department is to foster
self-supporting citizens with intellectual capability
and independence. Sociology is extremely suitable
to the cultivation of human resources as society
members who can think of society earnestly, have
consciousness and responsibility and act to build
a better society. The Department expects that
students learning the knowledge of sociology
and sociological research methods will have the
capability of offering challenges by themselves,
collecting and analyzing necessary information,
grasping and reporting situations exactly, and proper policy and taking
actions policy.
@The Department is characterized by the balance and system of basic and
specialized education. In order to use these features efficiently, seminar
classes in which teachers in charge provide students with learning guide
are arranged to each grade.
@As a substantial basic education, the Department
trains students beginning with the first year to
acquire the capability of receiving and dispatching
preciseinformation,and consolidates the
foundations of their Japanese and foreign language
skills focused on English and operation of PC.
Moreover, the Department prepares numbers
of creative subjects for students to acquire the
power of surviving modern society. In addition, the
curriculum is designed so that students can acquire
a wide range of cultural knowledge.
@The specialized education in the Department includes six courses,
Sociological Theory, Social Research, regional, International and
Environmental issues, Media and Modern Society, and Social welfare.
Students can learn systematically focusing on the specific courses of
their interest. |

@The Faculty of Law was established as the fourth
school at Matsuyama University in 1986 in
response to the high expectation of local society.
The Faculty has turned out numbers of excellent
human resources to the business, official, and
educational worlds. It cannot be overemphasized
that the target of law education is the discipline
of legal mind. The Faculty of Law attaches
importance to the goal is not only fostering
'Legal Mind'. It also puts a special emphasis on
the practical study, which is a tradition inherited
from Matsuyama Koto Shogyo Gakko (Matsuyama Higher School of
Commerce) as the origin of Matsuyama University, and aims at sending
out human resources with a broad view in consideration of training
students' personality through liberal arts.
@The educational program in the Faculty is as follows. First, students must
select and study 12 prerequisite subjects, such as the Constitution,
Civil Code, and Politics, so that they study the specialized subjects
systematically and efficiently. Second, on completion of the first year,
each student is to choose a course from three selectable courses; Public Selection by learning basic knowledge, Corporate
Legal Affairs, and Basic Legal Career. They can
learn specialized subjects in any of these courses.
Third, the Faculty takes into consideration that other
subjects are indispensable to students learning law
(e.g., subjects of accounting and management are
indispensable to the learning of the Corporate Law
and the Commercial Law). Therefore, students can
learn a wide range of subjects of other faculties.
Fourth, the Faculty attaches importance to the
opportunity of detailed researches and discussions
in small groups, with condition that all and senior students take a seminar
with specialized subjects. Although it is optional, students can prepare
for their graduation theses.
@The discipline of legal mind refers to not only making students memorize
legal articles but also training them to become a person who can
comprehend the actual aspects of the present world and make an
adequate judgment from a wide viewpoint. The Faculty hopes that your
young and flexible sensitivity and ambition. |

@The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the
six-year education trains students to become
advanced professionals with a view of ethics.
Since many students become researchers in
universities, enterprises or research institutes, the
college focuses on highly advanced education in
the specialized fields.
@In our Society, professionals also need to have
not only specialized knowledge but also a wide
range of education. The college has a curriculum
including a variety of subjects, which are IT Skills,
Medical Economics, Medical Supplies Marketing,
Pharmaceutical Laws and Consumer Laws besides
specialized pharmaceutical subjects. IT Skills and
other knowledge will be certainly helpful in the
medical fields such as pharmaceutical companies,
cosmetic makers, trading companies, medical
supplies sales companies and pharmaceutical
administration.
@The goal of the college is to cultivate advanced
specialists through the six-year pharmaceutical
education. |

@In order to advance the functions of Matsuyama University further, the master's course
of economics was established in 1972.
The doctor's course (second-half doctor's course) of economics was opened in 1974, master's
course of business administration was established in 1979,
and doctor's coursed (second-half doctor's course) of business administration was open in 1981.
The graduate course of economics has turned out students with doctor's degrees.
The master's and doctor's courses of sociology were established in 2006. The master's course of language communication was established in 2007.
@The goal of the Graduate School is training students to acquire capability required for special
occupations from a wide viewpoint.
Students aiming to acquire licensed tax accountant's qualification will have a privilege of
immunity from the state-run tax law examination and a part of the state-run accountancy examination
if the students complete specified seminars at the Graduate School.
@The Graduate School started accepting members of society from companies. Along with local surveys
and social activities including on-the-job training, the Graduate School has been further deepening
exchange with the local community.
@The graduate course of sociology cultivates people who aim at their career improvement in the fields
of information and media, local community problems, and welfare medical treatment. |

@Matsuyama Junior College, which was established in 1952, is
the only nighttime junior college of commerce in Shikoku. It has
sent out more than 5,800 graduates. Under the educational
system with a maximum capacity of 100 students, subjects in a
wide variety are taught
between 6 and 9:10 PM
from Monday to Friday.
These subjects include
specializedones(i.e.business administration,
economics,and law),computer-related subjects
in the aim of acquiring
Information Technology
qualifications, and practical ones taught by licensed tax
accountants and lawyers.
With the change of the
times, the number of working
students is decreasing.
Instead, the number of the
students who are transferred
to Matsuyama University and
other universities is increasing.
There is a system of admission
by recommendation to each faculty of Matsuyama University as well.
Matsuyama Junior College celebrated the 50th anniversary of the
foundation in 2003. Matsuyama Junior College aims at a further leap
with long-range prospects for the society in the 21st century kept in
mind. |
