Faculty of Informatics
Overview
Creating exciting futures through digital technology.
Become the digital people of the future that society needs!
The Department of Informatics, Faculty of Informatics was created in April 2025. We offer practical courses and internships in collaboration with companies and organizations, especially in Ehime Prefecture, developing “digital people” who excel in not just technical skills, but communication skills and problem-solving skills.
The three abilities students will master
- The ability to think both logically and creatively
Students will master the thinking process that leads from objective evidence via logical reasoning to conclusions. As artificial intelligence (AI) progresses, we are required to not just draw obvious conclusions, but to come up with new values based on creative thinking. - The ability to discover and solve problems
Students will master the knowledge and skill to discover problems in society, then use an analysis of the structure and background to the issue to solve these problems by selecting the optimal digital technology. We are required to use digital technology for people and society. - The ability to communicate
Students will master the communication skills of listening and telling in order to co-create new values in a society composed of diverse individuals. When working as a team, we need to have the empathy to share our feelings and not just information.
Features of learning
- An inter-disciplinary curriculum where students can learn informatics from two approaches
Our curriculum allows students to learn from both Information Systems, which puts the focus on the construction, administration, and operation of information systems and information infrastructure, and Media Design, which puts the focus on media information processing and information design.
Students increase their specialization by combining their interests in an inter-disciplinary curriculum that allows them to learn informatics from two approaches. - A diverse target-based program for properly mastering skills
We offer 13 target-based programs that take into account the specializations of informatics.
Students can choose a program that matches their interests, deepening their expertise. Each program has subjects that are required in order to achieve the targets of each program, known as “meister subjects.” These meister subjects also have pre-requisites and recommended subjects that need to be taken beforehand, and so can be learned in order. - Real-world practical subjects to acquire practical knowledge in the real world
We offer practical learning opportunities for methods of applying the knowledge and skills learnt in the classroom to the real world, based on the perspective of creating contacts with the community while at university. In Project subjects, students work with companies and organizations to tackle social issues in a project format, gaining experience in team problem-solving and leadership, and developing general skills such as problem-solving and initiative. In Career Formation Support subjects, students learn practical methods for utilizing their skills in the real world through practical lessons or training at companies such as internships. - Groups and companies nationwide, with a focus on Ehime Prefecture, work with us!
One of the attractions of the Faculty of Informatics is being able to learn practically through our liaisons with groups and companies.
People at more than 76 (as of April 2025) groups and companies around Ehime Prefecture and beyond work with us to offer practical subjects and internships for the Faculty of Informatics. - The Faculty of Informatics Building, with the very latest in equipment and devices, awaits!
A new school building, the Faculty of Informatics Building (tentative name), which fuses cutting-edge facilities with diverse learning environments, is scheduled for completion in April 2026! It will have a full range of facilities to help students make their passions a reality, whether those be IoT, security, media art, or game development.
With spaces that cater to a variety of learning styles, including VR, collaborative learning spaces, and laboratories, we will train people who can utilize digital technology for the benefit of both humanity and society!
